SSI Adds Three New Specialists to Consulting Firm
Safety Services International, a firm of internationally recognized
accident investigation and aviation safety consultants, is pleased
to announce the addition of three new specialists to its team.
Joining SSI are Michael R. Poole, Richard Wentworth and Richard
J. Nelson. "The three new consultants reflect our continued
focus to offer our clients the most competent and experienced professionals
in the industry," said John W. Purvis, SSI cofounder.
Poole, former head of the Canadian Transportation Safety Board
flight recorder and performance laboratory, is a world-recognized
authority in flight recorder readout and analysis. "He provides
us with expertise that has previously been available only to a hand-full
of government investigation authorities," said Purvis. "Not
only does Mike have extensive experience in reading out and interpreting
recorders, he oversaw the development of the software tools used
for recorder readout by virtually every major government investigating
authority in the world."
Richard Wentworth has 35 years of experience as an air traffic
controller with the FAA and the U.S. Army and as a senior investigator
for the National Transportation Safety Board. In his 16 years at
the NTSB, he investigated literally hundreds of ATC performance
accidents on a wide range of aircraft, from mid-air collisions to
runway excursion collisions to CFIT accidents.
Dick Nelson has more than 30 years experience as a regional airline
executive, working as a pilot, a regional airlines manager and an
educator specializing in general aviation and regional safety and
operations. "Much of Dick's experience took place in Alaska,
a very challenging operating environment," according to Purvis.
"This combination provides an excellent resource for our part
135 and smaller part 121 clients." Nelson, who was interim
dean at the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the
University of North Dakota, "also brings to SSI world class
flight school management experience," Purvis said.
Seattle-based Safety Services International was formed in 1991
by John Purvis and Kevin Darcy, two former Boeing accident investigators.
SSI's roster of experts now includes more than 15 independent accident
investigation and safety consultants, serving airlines, governments,
law firms and other clients.
